Wacker Chemie AG on Wednesday celebrated the 40th anniversary of its São Paulo, Brazil-based South American headquarters.
Wacker manufactures silicone products for the textile, construction, paper, agrochemical, personal care and cosmetics industries at its nearby Jandira facility.
The company said it is in the process of building a new, multifunctional facility – which will cost around €7 million (or roughly $8.34 million) – at the site for manufacturing antifoam agents and functional silicone fluids.
Wacker Brazil said it generated roughly €90 million in sales last year.
“Our sales in this region have grown at an average rate of more than nine percent annually over the past ten years," said WACKER Executive Board member Tobias Ohler.
Added fellow Executive Board member Auguste Willems: “Thanks to their virtually unlimited applications, silicones have become an integral part of daily life – whether in the electronics industry, the automotive sector, in cosmetics or medicine."
