Ranju Arya was appointed PPG’s senior business director, mobility, the company said.
Arya will lead PPG’s efforts in developing and commercializing paint and coatings technologies for autonomous and electric vehicles. He will report to Gary Danowski, VP, automotive OEM coatings, and Tim Knavish, SVP industrial coatings. Arya was previously account director, automotive OEM coatings, and brings more than 20 years of experience with PPG in global business development and corporate strategy.
PPG is developing a broad portfolio of advanced coatings that play key roles in the deployment of autonomous and electric vehicles. These products include exterior coatings that enhance vehicle visibility to light detection and ranging (LIDAR) systems; easy-to-clean coatings that help prevent obstruction of autonomous vehicle sensors; and environmentally-sensitive cathode and anode coatings used to store and transfer energy within modern lithium ion batteries.
