Coatings formulated with LUMIFLON FEVE resins from AGC Chemicals Americas are ideal for offshore and marine structures like oil rigs, tanks and vessels because they provide excellent corrosion protection and guard against UV rays, wind, rain, chemicals, dirt and petroleum products, the company said. At the Oil & Gas Polymer Engineering Texas 2018 conference, AGC’s Winn Darden, business manager, LUMIFLON Fluoropolymer Resins, will discuss the structure and physical characteristics of fluoropolymer coatings. He will present data on weatherability, laboratory and field corrosion test results, and real-world offshore coatings case studies. In addition, he will provide a lifecycle cost analysis to demonstrate the long-term financial benefits of using fluorinated coatings. His session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 10:10 a.m. LUMIFLON FEVE-based coatings offer significant lifecycle cost advantages compared to standard polyurethane and polysiloxane coatings. LUMIFLON-based coatings can be formulated to last for 30 to 60 years. These resins can reduce lifecycle coating costs, improve asset utilization and eliminate the need for multiple painting cycles.
