PPG announced that the PPG Foundation recently invested nearly $24,000 in three northern Ohio organizations in support of educational and economic development efforts. The grants were made in the third quarter of 2018 on behalf of PPG’s Cleveland automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) coatings facility and Barberton specialty coatings and materials facility. A $15,085 grant to the Hudson City School District will be used to expand the maker space and fabrication lab at Hudson High School. The space supports extracurricular activities that include a Science Olympiad competition, FIRST® Robotics program and maker space club. The foundation provided a $7,596 grant for the PPG Educational Tent at the 2018 A Taste of Hudson event. Designed for children ages 3 to 12, the tent featured interactive activities and stage shows that promoted science, technology, engineering and math skills. The Barberton Community Development Corporation received a $1,100 grant to repair a crucial ramp at the Seiberling complex, which is an incubator for small businesses. “PPG is committed to investing in the communities where we operate to help prepare the workforce of tomorrow and support community programs that build a stronger local economy,” said Jim Priddy, PPG plant manager, Cleveland.
