Axalta congratulates the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team on becoming the 2020 FIA Formula One World Constructors’ Champions, which was secured at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on 1 November 2020 in Imola, Italy. This is the seventh consecutive Constructors’ title the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team has won, making history by setting a new world record for the most consecutive Constructors’ Championships ever to be won by a team in the sport. On Nov. 15, 2020 at the Turkish Grand Prix, driver Lewis Hamilton also secured his seventh FIA Formula One World Drivers’ Championship title*. This win means Hamilton is only the second driver in the sport’s history to become a seven-time World Champion equalling Michael Schumacher’s impressive tally. It also makes the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team the first in the history of the sport to win both titles seven times in a row. “As an Official Team Supplier for more than seven years, it is incredible to be part of such an historic achievement,” said Yves Kerstens, president of Axalta EMEA. “The Formula One World Championships truly display how exceptional teamwork coupled with a deep commitment to technology and continuous innovation, fuels unparalleled, collective success.
