PPG announced that it will showcase its transparent functional coatings for glass, plastic and metal consumer electronic substrates at the Society for Information Display (SID) Display Week 2021. The event will be held virtually from May 17 to 21.
PPG will highlight its full range of high-performance display coating solutions, which are engineered to improve application efficiencies, enhance the user experience and maximize product value with advanced functionality, durability and design. Headlining the PPG display will be PPG AQUACRON® Stain-Resistant (SR) clearcoat. This waterborne thermal-cure polyurethane clearcoat is formulated with extremely low volatile organic compound (VOC) content (<150g/L in compliance with Chinese GB National Standards) to meet tightening environmental regulations in China and around the world.
Applied over a basecoat, PPG Aquacron SR clearcoat delivers performance that surpasses traditional solvent-borne systems. It offers exceptional resistance to chemicals, staining and burnishing, coupled with anti-fingerprint properties on dark colors and a silky touch feel for laptops, e-readers and keypads.
Madison Sloan, PPG global strategic account manager, will deliver a virtual presentation titled “Beyond Sustainability: New Waterborne Coatings for Electronics” during the event. She will outline the advantages of new high-performance waterborne coatings for display screens and electronic components.
PPG also will feature its spray-enabled transparent functional coatings for glass, plastic and metal substrates, including its easy-to-clean/anti-smudge, anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coatings. These technologies can be combined to provide complete pre-engineered, pre-stacked and pre-packaged display coatings solutions.
Other PPG electronic materials solutions that will be exhibited include:
Printable conductive, resistive and insulating inks for printed electronic applications;
Innovative patterning paste technology for integration of silver nanowire in flexible displays; and
Conductive coatings for electromagnetic interference, radio-frequency interference protection and electrostatic discharge.
PPG display coatings are used by leading manufacturers of consumer electronics, airplanes, automobiles, military vehicles and equipment.
SID Display Week is the premier international event for the electronic display industry. This year’s event features 69 technical sessions consisting of 282 oral presentations and 115 poster presentations from world-leading companies and end-users across the value chain.
