Martin P. Coughlin, 72, of Rocky River, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Marty’s career began in the chemical distribution industry as a salesman in Cleveland, OH with Van Waters and Rogers. His personality, charm and ever-inquisitive nature made him a natural in sales. After departing VW&R, Marty founded RPI Specialties. RPI sourced and provided raw materials to the CASE industries. Marty’s entrepreneurial spirit next led him to co-found Specialty Chemical Sales in 1995, a specialty chemical distributor based in Cleveland, OH focused on the Paint & Coatings industry. Much about the company reflected Marty’s style and warm approach, which continues on today. Those in the industry who worked with him will recall his ability to provide simple clarity to complex situations as well as time enjoying a round of golf, casting a line, and of course, making everyone else smile.
