CW: Please describe the Color of the Year.
Cesa: October Mist 1495 is a gently shaded sage that quietly anchors, creating a canvas for creative expression through color.

October Mist is Benjamin Moore's COTY.
CW: What type of trends were the influence for this color to be selected?
Cesa: We’ve always been deeply immersed in creative industry-leading trends and cultural relevancy, and the process in finding the Color of the Year is continually evolving. The challenges throughout the past year encouraged us to become even more creative and to come up with out-of-the-box solutions in our research and collaboration methods. This year, it felt right to take more of an introspective approach than previous years. We drew inspiration from everyday observations, personal, authentic experiences and cultural influences that resulted in each team member looking at color trends from unique perspectives. We brought this information together to consider color trends on a broader scale, focusing on how color serves as an ideal tool for self-expression and creativity.
CW: In what rooms would it be best suited?
Cesa: Though the Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2022 palette was designed with the entire home in mind, the soothing nature of October Mist 1495 makes it an ideal choice for softer spaces like bedrooms and studies. Taking inspiration from the stem of a flower, it can provide a beautiful backdrop for a space by itself or create a foundation for more playful design choices throughout the home. It can be used in a wide-range of spaces and styles.
CW: What other color palettes complement this color?
Cesa: The full Color Trends 2022 palette is both flexbile and versatile. The colors all play well together with endless combinations, so you can mix and match based on your personal aesthetic and preference. You’ll see grounding greens, adaptable neutrals, frothy pales, and refreshed primaries, all purposely chosen to work well together and give you the playground to create, play, nurture, and express.
