Lowe’s STAINMASTER Brand Selects Truffle as Its 2025 Color of the Year

When homeowners look to freshen up their homes, they often look for rich neutrals to set the tone with other colors, whether they are going for classic pairings or a modern look.

For its 2025 Color of the Year, STAINMASTER, available exclusively at Lowe’s, went for a rich neutral with Truffle, a restorative dark hue that offers homeowners a vast color palette to develop.

Monica Reese, Director of Trend and Style for Lowe’s, found that people are leaning into deep hues, with darker neutrals trending this year.

“We are excited to highlight Truffle, a versatile color that taps into the warm beauty of nature, offering a timeless and durable foundation for our customers’ design needs,” said Reese. “Truffle complements a wide range of styles, from modern minimalism to rustic chic.

“Customers are venturing away from white and grey tones, but they are still looking for neutrals, and Truffle is a more dynamic neutral,” added Reese. “Truffle has a rich tone, with a sense of elegance and versatility. It can transform your whole space while lending itself to a classic look, and depending on what you pair with it, you can create different moods. Cool tones create a more updated look, while ivory leads to a more classic look. This paint is specifically made for interiors.”

Reese said that the versatility of Truffle is part of its allure.

“We tend to lean into colors that are very livable and are easy to design and plan around,” Reese said. “You can create a very modern look or a timeless look. The bolder or brighter colors are better for accents and can be changed easily.”

For example, Reese noted that STAINMASTER Paint colors such as Clean White, Ivory Wool and Biscotti are neutrals that pair beautifully with Truffle.

Last year was the first time that Lowe’s and STAINMASTER selected a Color of the Year, choosing English Green. Reese noted that green shades will continue to trend this year.

“We continue to see greens growing in popularity, ranging from mossy to emeralds, and we are seeing it in cabinets and flooring as well,” said Reese. “We anticipate that greens will remain popular and trending for quite some time.”

Reese observed that Truffle pairs well with English Green.

“You can see how that color story works together to create a naturally inspired-looking space,” said Reese. “Homeowners can also pull in STAINMASTER Paint colors like Blue Heron and Herbal Remedy which give you a naturally inspired look. This is a look that customers are leaning into.”

Reese also noted that color drenching is a key trend.
