Variable Inc., maker of the NODE+ wireless sensor platform, has released the NODE+chromaPro, powered by the new Inspire™ app for smart devices. Building upon the success of its first-generation color referencing system NODE+chroma, developers for Variable, Inc. advanced the system’s capabilities to include a tri-stimulus detector to increase accuracy and repeatability, precise readings on multiple surface types, including textured materials, and a customizable app that harnesses cloud data and streamlines the color selection process. “For color and design professionals in a spectrum of markets, this means removing the guesswork of color selection without sacrificing the creative vision for design,” said Variable’s vice president of marketing John Kowalski. “Quality and inspiration are driven by one system that speeds the selection process, gets you closer to your desired colors, and empowers teams to communicate that vision throughout the development and specification process as well as accelerating the sales cycle.” NODE+chromaPro and the Inspire app work together as a design workflow team to collect color inspiration, reference against color libraries, create palettes, organize, share, and even order product or color samples. The Inspire app is a base and allows for unlimited customization based on the user’s objectives. “The real power behind the chromaPro is in what can be done with the data through Inspire,” said George Yu, Ph.D, chief executive officer and founder, Variable, Inc. “Our ability to transform the app into a completely unique tool for each client’s specific needs will change the way designers and other professionals communicate with clients, with manufacturers and with each other. “ Kowalski added, “The data will work for you if you know how to use it to drive your vision, and we have a team of developers standing by to help our clients take full advantage of its capabilities.” NODE+chromaPro, the 10th module in Variable’s suite of NODE+ sensors, transmits data via Bluetooth to Apple iOS and Android smart devices. Regardless of ambient lighting, the handheld device computes CMYK, sRGB, CIE, L*a*b* and Hex values, to name a few, via broad spectrum white LED light and matches them to a number of color indices.
