Axalta employees – for the eighth straight year – cycled 1,000km to raise money for a Belgian cancer charity, Kom op Tegen Kanker (KOTK).
Three teams each cycled 250km per day between May 10-13, starting and finishing in Mechelen, Belgium.
Back in March, four Axalta employees participated in the first ever KOTK 100 km run, which took place on – and around – the University of Antwerp’s Campus Drie Eijken.
Through both race events and other fundraising activities throughout the year, Axalta employeesfrom Belgium raised €17,540 for KOTK. According to Axalta, proceeds will go towards clinical research “to achieve higher survivability rates and better quality of life for cancer patients.”
“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer. The funds raised certainly helped to drive the teams to do their best, and everyone truly pushed their boundaries,” Mechelen Plant Manager Herbert van der Donk said.
Nearly 1,000 teams participated in the bike ride while another 200 were involved in the 100-km race. Together, per Axalta, €5,462,500 have been raised.
