Building a more sustainable future for the Pacific region will be the focus of the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) upcoming GreenerBuilder regional conference. The event will be held on Aug. 1, 2018 at UCSF Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, Calif. and will be hosted by the USGBC Northern California community. Vien Truong, a visionary leader in the green building industry, will deliver the opening keynote remarks. Truong is the CEO of Dream Corps, leading a national initiative called Green For All, which puts communities of color at the forefront of the climate movement and equality at the center of environmental solutions. Truong has been a key voice for the architectural industry in advancing the equitable green economy, earning awards and recognition as esteemed as the White House Champion of Change for Environmental Equity award. One of the nation’s most prominent experts on the development of an equitable green economy, Truong has crafted numerous environmental, energy, economic, and transportation policies at all levels of government. “We are thrilled to welcome Vien Truong to the GreenerBuilder stage as she brings a powerful voice in addressing the equity issues facing our movement,” said Kimberly Lewis, senior vice president of market transformation and development for North America at USGBC. “Communities of every size and socioeconomic make up are grappling with how best to combat climate change and develop responsibly. Vien offers a fresh perspective on these challenging issues – she brings equality to the fore and champions a future that is sustainable in every sense.” Each year, GreenerBuilder brings the green building community from California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington and Alaska together to explore key trends in green design and technology.
