AkzoNobel is using digital technology and personalized services at the first of its kind Dulux concept store in Shanghai.
The store makes use of online and offline tools to create a one-stop immersive experience.
Featuring more than 200 colors from the Dulux range – as well as samples of paint textures and patterns – experts are also on hand to provide counseling and real-time demonstrations of customized designs and colors chosen by customers via apps and in-store virtual reality devices.
"We are making personalized total solutions – color, products and services – into a full experience for the consumer," said Dr. Lin Liangqi, president of AkzoNobel China and business director of the company's Decorative Paints business in North Asia. "The Dulux concept store makes our color and product expertise readily accessible with digital tools. When people walk into the store, we hope our passion for paint inspires them as they create their own modern, colorful and dynamic living spaces."
Also highlighted are Dulux's professional renewal services and the effect of soft furnishing materials, such as curtains and wallpapers, the store helps make repainting and decorating a breeze. An artistic installation and display showing the evolution of the Color of the Year provide even more inspiration.
An example of the digital services from Dulux available to consumers around the world is the award-winning Visualizer app – a digital color tool with over 20 million downloads globally. The app allows consumers to see the effect of any color on the wall – before having to apply a drop of paint.
In 2018 AkzoNobel enhanced its stores' network by acquiring Whites Trade Paints, Cambrian Decorators Supplies (C.D.S.) Limited and Trade Paints, all based in the UK. Further improving the service and support offered to its customers, there are now 219 Dulux Decorator Centers in the UK.
