PPG announced that the PPG Foundation is providing more than $200,000 in undergraduate college scholarships through the NATIONAL MERIT® Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The PPG Foundation has awarded more than 3,000 scholarships to U.S. students since establishing the PPG Foundation Scholarship Program in 1956. The 2020 scholarships include 25 awards for children of PPG employees and students who live in communities near PPG facilities. NMSC selects recipients based on scores earned on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which high school students take during their junior year. “The PPG Foundation is proud of our long-standing partnership with the National Merit Scholarship Program, which has a legacy of supporting students across the U.S. who are pursuing higher education,” said Malesia Dunn, executive director, PPG Foundation and corporate global social responsibility. “PPG believes that when we invest in students, we help spur their individual academic success and empower them to become leaders who will accelerate the future of manufacturing, science, technology and other vital industries.” Student recipients will receive awards annually for up to four years of their undergraduate studies. “Receiving this scholarship from PPG is an honor,” said Margaret Jankowski, who is the daughter of John Jankowski, PPG vice president and treasurer. “This is just another example of how PPG strives to invest in its communities. I am grateful that my academic performance has been recognized by a global leader in innovation and technology.” Margaret Jankowski plans to major in health and societies at the University of Pennsylvania.
