IGL Coatings announced the latest addition to its sanitization series: A proprietary self-cleaning coating, Ecocoat Titan.
The water-based photocatalytic coating employs titanium dioxide (TiO2) to offer surfaces continuous protection against harmful pathogens when activated by light.
Hospitals, public transportation, lifts, restaurants, and other high traffic surfaces, are all hotspots for pathogens and Ecocoat Titan actively sanitizes and reduces the growth of these pathogens.
Ecocoat Titan also eliminates foul odors, VOCs on coated surfaces and is highly durable, unlike other photocatalytic coatings that are susceptible to touch and everyday wear and tear.
Utilizing proprietary Activ-Tough technology, Titan remains active even after constant scrubbing with soap-based products or IPA, a harsh solvent commonly found in hand sanitizers that are known to dissolve coatings easily.
In extreme scrub tests, Titan remains strong after 10,000 scrubs against soap-based products like hand wash or dishwashing soaps, and 1,000 scrubs against IPA–based products like hand sanitizers with 70 percent alcohol content.
Ecocoat Titan works just as well in the dark if exposed to sufficient visible light. The coating has the unique ability to continue protecting the surface in the absence of light, a feature that is not found in many photocatalysts available today.
Ecocoat Titan was created to address the growing problems of ineffective and inefficient sanitization.
“All areas require constant sanitization due to the COVID-19 outbreak and our goal was to create a self-cleaning, highly durable coating that provides continuous protection,” said Keong Chun Chieh, CEO of IGL Coatings. “Safety has always been a top priority for IGL Coatings and we’ve utilized our expertise in coatings to create Ecocoat Titan."
Ecocoat Titan is currently available in Malaysia, the Philippines, Finland, and Hungary.
