The Protech Group has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the thermoset powder coatings business of Lynx Thermoset Coating Ltd, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The acquisition was completed on Oct. 18, 2021. All manufacturing equipment will remain on site in Calgary and Lynx employees will join the Protech Group. Lynx’s portfolio of high-quality coatings products combines more than 40 years of experience in the industry. Now part of the Protech Group, the Lynx facility will serve as a local quick turnaround custom order facility and a warehouse for hundreds of stock colors from 10 other Protech Group production sites in North America. “I’m pleased to welcome our newest team members to the Protech Group and look forward to all we can accomplish together as one Protech Group,” said David Ades, president, Protech Group. “The addition of Lynx’s team, industry expertise, and operations strengthen provide a strong platform for growth in Western Canada.” “We strongly believe that being part of the Protech Group will accelerate operational growth by increasing market access through the Protech Group’s existing sales and distribution channels,” added Derek Sheppard, former president of Lynx Thermoset Coating Ltd and now facility manager at the Protech Group. Acquisitions are at the heart of the growth strategy at the Protech Group. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Protech Group has acquired three businesses including the thermoset powder coatings business of ACG industries (Gondecourt, France), and the liquid paints business of Excalibur Paints & Coatings Ltd. (Wichita Falls, TX, USA), and Winslow Browning Inc. (Liberty, IN, USA).
