APF Polymer Surfaces, a leader in high-performance concrete floor coatings and part of the ICP Group family of brands, announced the launch of its redesigned website – APFepoxy.com – offering a comprehensive and user-friendly experience immersing customers in the company’s full product offerings and services portfolio.

The new site features streamlined menus, simplified navigation and fast access to all APF offerings like Armor-Rez flooring systems and epoxy mortars, CastorCrete flooring systems and VaporSolve moisture remediation solutions. ICP Group has announced new investments in its Long Beach, CA, manufacturing facility that will enable the company to enhance service and supply to customers throughout the entire West Coast territory.

Initial production ramp-up will focus on critical cement and emulsion products in bulk and pail format. Plant capacity improvements include the installation of multiple new mixers, as well as expanded will call service to enable seamless daily pickups to meet customer needs.

“Over the past year we have been carefully evaluating our manufacturing operations to best serve our customers, and it’s clear that our Long Beach location plays a critical role in our ability to provide our West Coast customers with the best experience,” said Doug Mattscheck, president and CEO, ICP Group. “To meet growing customer needs in this region, we’re making focused improvements to the facility that will immediately enhance our service commitment. This is a top priority for ICP.”

The company had another excellent year in 2021, with sales growing to $824 million.

ICP made one acquisition during the past year, acquiring Choice Adhesives to bolster its roofing solutions portfolio. It is expected to be highly complementary to the growing ICP Building Solutions Group (ICP BSG) portfolio, which includes trusted roofing brands like Polyset and APOC.

ICP Group’s R&D team was active as always, in particular launching APOC Weather Armor air and weather barriers, liquid-applied, one-component solutions that protect against unwanted or uncontrolled air and moisture in a variety of climates, and STAIN-PROOF Paver Enhancing Sealer, which offers both color enhancement and water and liquid protection through a patented combination of silicone technology.

Brian LaGuardia, EVP of ICP Building Solutions Group, reported that 2021 was a another challenging year and required adopting to the market conditions, adding that projects began to open back up after COVID.

“Demand was strong as we headed in to Q1,” said LaGuardia. “Our country’s infrastructure was battered by storms and showed how vulnerable we are as a country, as several manufacturing and suppliers were struck by the Texas freeze, paralyzing manufacturing and logistics for the remainder of the year.

“Demand remained strong across the industry however,” added LaGuardia. “Government programs impacted getting people back to work, and imports were severely impacted due to the jam up in the Suez Canal. Labor conditions made getting product from ports to customers extremely challenging. Demand remained strong in the back half of the year and trends are expected to stay strong throughout 2022.”

The company had an excellent year in 2020, growing to $700 million n in sales, adding three key acquisitions while successfully navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Doug Caffoe, SVP marketing, said that 2020 was certainly a unique year for construction projects.

“Like many businesses, we came into the first quarter of 2020 very strong then everything shut down due to COVID,” Caffoe observed. “We then saw a large demand for our disinfectant products and products related to the fight against COVID. Construction projects slowed, but demand for COVID related projects increased. As 2020 pushed through and the economy started opening back up, the jobs and projects that were put on hold started coming back. We saw a strong increase in the third quarter for our coatings and that increase has continued as projects continued to get back on track.”

The building envelope market, consisting of roof and environmental coatings, is ICP Group’s key market, with more than 63% of revenue. Industrial/industrial maintenance is next at 14%, followed by cementitious floor and deck coatings at 9%.

A portfolio company of Audax Private Equity, ICP Group made three acquisitions over the past year.

The first was Hi-Tech Coatings, a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance coatings for the packaging and commercial printing industries worldwide. Hi-Tech Coatings will become part of ICP Group’s Industrial Services Group (ISG). The acquisition provides ICP ISG with opportunities within high-performance water-based and ultraviolet-curable coatings, as well as expanding its international customer base in Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions.

The second acquisition was Leeson Polyurethanes, a leading polyurethane adhesive and coating company in the UK. The third acquisition was Tampa, FL-based Gardner Gibson and Sun Coatings, a leading manufacturer of liquid-applied roof coatings, roofing products, driveway sealers and specialty paints primarily serving professional contractors. The acquisition builds upon ICP Group’s extensive line of building solutions and global distribution network and creates one of the largest privately held coatings and adhesives companies in North America.
