In addition to its production capacity of about 10,000 tons/year out of the Cassano, Italy Biosuccinium plant, Reverdia announced at the European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology (EFIB) that it is now licensing Biosuccinium. This is a clear advantage for companies who want to integrate bio-succinic acid production into their business offering, enabling competitive bio-based materials.
Biosuccinium is a building block for the production of polymers and chemicals, including bioplastic polybutylene succinate (PBS), resins for paints and coatings, phthalate-free plasticizers and polyester polyols for polyurethanes. Reverdia’s low pH yeast fermentation process has best-in-class carbon performance as demonstrated by the published cradle-to-gate LCA by the University of Utrecht.
