At the ANAFAPYT Latin American Coatings Show 2015 running today through July 2, Orion Engineered Carbons, exhibiting with its distributor, Chemik S.A de C.V. (Booth 601 to 612), highlights its new generation of treated Specialty Carbon Black pigments. COLOUR BLACK FW 255 and SPECIAL BLACK 40 enable formulators here to meet performance requirements across a wide range of coatings applications. In addition to its booth, Orion will present on COLOUR BLACK FW 255 and on the effects of Carbon Black properties on coatings.
COLOUR BLACK FW 255 Carbon Black pigment sets a new bar for high jetness, coloristic performance, and compatibility with both water-borne and solvent-borne systems. It enables formulators to maintain performance and coloristic properties while migrating to water-borne formulations.
“COLOUR BLACK FW 255 is especially suited for automotive OEM and refinish systems,” said Tom Papasso, Marketing Manager, Coatings and Special Applications, Americas. “With the increasing automotive production in Mexico and the blossoming OEM supplier industry, we believe COLOUR BLACK FW 255 will play an important and useful role here.”
The second grade that benefits from Orion’s new aftertreatment capabilities is SPECIAL BLACK 40, which Orion Engineered Carbons introduced at the European Coatings Show in April. A Specialty Carbon Black for medium- to high-jet coatings, SPECIAL BLACK 40 provides exceptional dispersibility and stability in industrial applications. It works in all coating formulations -- solvent-based, water-based, high solids and powder coatings -- providing formulators with enormous flexibility.
During the conference, Mark Dingeldein, Technical Market Manager Coatings, will deliver the following presentations:
➢ “Properties and Characteristics that Influence Carbon Black in Coatings Systems” June 30, 2 pm, Hall A.
➢ “COLOUR BLACK FW 255 -- High Performance Black Pigment for High Solids Systems including OEM and Refinish” July 1, 2 pm, Hall C.
Orion Engineered Carbons sells its full range of Specialty Carbon Blacks for coatings, polymers and inks in Mexico though Chemik S.A de C.V. Based in Monterrey with distribution centers in the cities of Mexico and Guadalajara, Chemik S.A de C.V., supplies raw materials mainly to the paints, coatings, inks, adhesives and plastics industries.
