Global functional additive manufacturer Total Cray Valley announced that its Global R&D Director, Steven Henning, will be giving a presentation titled “The Synthesis and Characterization of Farnesene-Based Oligomers” at the 2016 International Elastomer Conference. The event, which provides a forum for the science, technology, and business of elastomers, takes place October 10-13 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Henning will deliver his presentation during Session C: Natural Rubber & Bio Materials for Rubber at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11.
During his presentation, Henning will review the synthesis and characterization of poly(trans-β-farnesene) oligomers, including anionically prepared diols and monols. Anionic polymerization of the monomer produces a highly branched "bottle-brush" structure, with rheological properties that are markedly different than those of linear diene polymers.
Total Cray Valley will also be exhibiting its additives for high-performance rubber applications at booth 711 during the show.
This event is hosted by the American Chemical Society (ACS) Rubber Division.
