PPG said it will showcase its full line of advanced transparent and conductive coatings for display glass and plastic substrates at the SID Vehicle Displays Detroit symposium and expo in Livonia, Mich., Sept. 26-27.
PPG produces a full range of transparent functional vehicle display coatings, including easy-to-clean (EC), anti-glare (AG), anti-reflective (AR) and anti-fingerprint (AFP) coatings. These coatings can be combined into pre-engineered, pre-stacked and pre-packaged solutions for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their tier suppliers.
As part of the event’s technical program, Zilu Li, research chemist, display coatings, PPG industrial coatings research and development, will present a paper titled “Anti-Fingerprint Coatings for Display Applications” at 11 a.m. on Sept. 27. Li will show the water contact angle, wear-durability and surface morphology for PPG’s newly developed sol-gel based AFP coating, which combines the ability to hide fingerprints on glass surfaces with excellent cleanability.
Other PPG products featured at the expo will include advanced conductive coatings, such as safe-on-substrate (SOS) alcohol-solvent-based coatings; Neptune Z Series water-based conductive paints; polymer thick film (PTF) ink products; and thermosetting electrostatic discharge (ESD) coatings.
PPG is among the few companies worldwide to manufacture conductive and transparent functional EC, AG, AR and AFP coatings for glass, plastic and metal substrates.
Presented by the Detroit Chapter of the Society for Information Display (SID), the annual vehicle display symposium and expo attracts scientific, engineering and automotive manufacturing leaders from around the world for two days of technical knowledge-sharing and advancement of in-car electronic-display-related technologies.
