APV Engineered Coatings will exhibit at the Green California Schools & Community Colleges Summit and Exposition, Nov. 28-29, at the Pasadena Convention Center (Booth 226).
The company said its exhibit will help school administrators, maintenance directors and facility managers learn how to save money and sustainably extend the life of their building exteriors with the award-winning NeverFade Exterior Coatings with Kynar Aquatec resin.
NeverFade Exterior Coatings are a line of water-based, low-VOC coatings that uniquely restore and protect building exteriors with its long-term performance. The products are formulated with Kynar Aquatec,a tough and industry-proven PVDF resin that resists thermal, chemical and ultraviolet degradation. Incorporated into the NeverFade coating technology and coupled with high performance additives and specialty grade inorganic pigments, Kynar Aquatec is highly resistant to color fading, dirt pickup, staining, algae, mold, fungal growth and erosion. Applied with the compatible primer systems offered by APV, the NeverFade coating system can protect against rust, corrosion, and efflorescence, as well as promote long-term adhesion to the building surface. The topcoats are custom-color matched to each customer’s specification in bold and rich colors and come with a 15-year product-and-labor warranty for color performance.
“This warranty is unique to the architectural coatings industry,” said Mike Couchie, VP of Sales, APV Engineered Coatings. “It offers more than other warranties because we wanted to show just how much we stand behind the coating. Although we warrant the color performance for 15 years, the Kynar technology has been performing for over 30 years in harsh UV-prone environments without requiring re-coating.”
The warranty is one reason that Solano Community College in California chose the product to recoat its relatively new but severely chalked and faded Vallejo and Vacaville Center campuses, according to APV. NeverFade helped the college save more than $48,000. If the college had selected a premium latex exterior paint, they likely would have had to recoat every five years, at a cost of $16,000-$18,000 per job, the company said.
New Formula for Architectural Metal Applications
Earlier this year, APV launched a new NeverFade topcoat to completely restore metal facades so that they look and perform just as though they have a new factory finish. The new topcoat is called NeverFade Metal Restoration Topcoat and it supplements the industry-proven NeverFade Original Topcoat which is for concrete, stucco, masonry, fiber cement, composite materials and vinyl building exteriors. Like the original, it is water-based and meets SCAQMD Rule 1113 VOC limits in Southern California for industrial maintenance coatings, with less than 100 grams/liter of VOCs. NeverFade Metal Restoration Topcoat can be used with APV’s complementary W-1650 Bonding Primer for previously coated surfaces, such as Kynar 500 or silicon polyester finishes, as well as APV’s W-1500 Universal Primer for a variety of substrates. The primers contain less than 50 grams/liter of VOCs, meeting SCAQMC Rule 1113 VOC limits for Southern California. The water-based topcoat also can be used with APV’s two-component corrosion resistant epoxy primer for extreme, corrosive weather environments. This product contains VOC exempt solvents to comply with SCAQMC Rule 1113 VOC limits.
