PPG said it enhanced the PPG SEMCO model 1250 battery-powered sealant dispensing tool for faster and more efficient operation. The tool has better dispensing control with variable dispensing speeds and eliminates the need for hoses and a compressed-air supply.
Introduced in 2017, the tool is designed for applying sealants, adhesives, potting compounds and other materials packaged in a variety of PPG Semco cartridges or PPG SEMKIT packages that are used for multicomponent materials. It weighs less than three pounds and is ergonomically designed.
“PPG’s goal in enhancing the PPG Semco model 1250 battery-powered sealant dispensing tool was to exceed the performance of currently available pneumatic dispensers while eliminating the need to connect to an air supply like traditional pneumatic applicators,” said Abdul Halim Sayyed, PPG global market development specialist, aerospace packaging. “The dispenser’s functionality allows the operator to control dispensing more accurately. Post-dispensing sealant drool has been further reduced through several proprietary enhancements for less waste and cleaner operation.”
Nine variable dispensing speeds give the operator the ability to select the best dispensing rate for each unique task and varying sealant viscosities. A safety lock helps prevent sealant from being dispensed accidentally.
The dispensing tool comes with two batteries and can dispense approximately 60 cartridges on a fully charged battery. It includes retainers that hold 6-ounce and 2.5-ounce Semco cartridges.
“Customers have said they like the freedom and ease of use that the PPG Semco model 1250 battery-powered sealant dispensing tool provides because of its portability and light weight,” Sayyed said. “It offers them mobility for use in remote parts of the hangar, tarmac or maintenance areas. It also enables users to apply sealant and adhesives more smoothly in areas of the aircraft that are difficult to reach.”
