PPG announced that the PPG Foundation recently invested $20,000 in two Alabama organizations in support of educational programs. The grants were made on behalf of PPG’s aerospace facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
The foundation provided $15,000 to The Schools Foundation in support of its Summer Adventures In Learning (SAIL) program, which reaches 500 low-income students in the school districts of Huntsville, Madison County and Madison City. SAIL combats summer learning loss in math and reading in a camp-like atmosphere.
A $5,000 grant to the University of Alabama Huntsville Foundation will provide scholarships for underprivileged girls to attend Girls Science and Engineering Day. This one-day program is designed to pique interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
“PPG is proud to support educational programs that provide our young people with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue careers in advanced manufacturing,” said Tom Meyer, PPG plant manager, Huntsville.
