PPG announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project in A. Bangsaothong Samutprakarn, Thailand, that helped revitalize the Anuban Khehabangplee School.
The project brought together approximately 30 volunteers from PPG and the school, who spent more than 90 hours beautifying and renovating the building’s fence and walls.
PPG provided more than $6,400 (nearly 192,000 Thai baht) in products and services to assist with the project, including more than 13 gallons (50 liters) of SIGMATM by PPG protective paint products.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as A. Bangsaothong Samutprakarn, where PPG has manufacturing and research and development operations.
The government-run Anuban Khehabangplee School educates more than 1,700 elementary students with a staff of 50 teachers. The majority of students have parents who work at the PPG facility in the Bangplee Industrial Estate area.
“We’re very grateful for what PPG has done to help renovate the school, which enables the students to enjoy a colorful and bright environment,” said Phaitool Kongtien, head of teachers, Anuban Khehabangplee School. “Without this project, it would take years for us to make these renovations happen.”
During the school renovation, volunteers painted the fence and walls in a cheerful color palette of yellow and dark blue. They also rebuilt walls and planted bushes along the fence.
“This was the first Colorful Communities project to be completed in Thailand since the outbreak of COVID-19,” said Kongsak Pornsuttijunya, PPG country manager and general manager, packaging coatings, Thailand. “The project offered opportunities for volunteers to do good things for their community and to connect with and support each other. The PPG volunteers, who are from different business units and functional areas, are passionate about the renovation project at the school. We are proud to have participated.”
