HMG Paints have relaunched its range of Artist Colours in Oil, following strong demand and sup-port from the artist community. Originally manufactured by RJ Stokes Paints in the 1940s, the paints are highly regarded in the artist community and used by leading painters from across Britain.
The Artists Colours in Oil are traditional concentrated dispersions of pigments in blended Linseed Oils for artists that offer intense color and high tinting strength. The intense chroma and cleanliness of the pigments utilized means that the select palette of colors allows artists to create any color they desire.
“I, and so many others, are more than delighted by the news that HMG is about to launch their range of artists' oils,” said Jake Attree. Attree’s work features in private and corporate collections in the USA, Australia, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany and Sweden.
In the UK, his work can be found in numerous galleries including York Art Gallery; Bradford Museums & Galleries; Leeds and Sheffield University Fine Art Society.
A unique feature of the range sees the contemporary artist colors, including the popular Titanium White, Vibrant Blue and Venetian Red, available in large tin sizes. The range is available in 1liter tins with a 2.5-litre and 5-litre pack size available in the future.
The range has a malleable viscosity which lends itself to impasto painting and can be applied by brush, roller, palette knife or other techniques. The ultimate dispersion of pigments within the paint makes it ideal for it to be used boldly, which is showcased by the styles of users such as Carl Mel-egari and Frank Auerbach.
“We’re delighted to be able to make the range available to such a passionate community. The mate-rials have interesting history, for example speaking to Frank Auerbach on a couple of occasions, he was explaining to me in our phone calls, the network of famous names who used the product,” said John Falder, HMG Paints Chairman. “We inherited a range which had been somewhat neglected, needing quite a lot of work to refine the formulations to ensure consistency but as always the HMG team, led by Avese Umar, have produced a product we’re exceptionally proud of.”
The full range of products are available directly from HMG Paints and can be purchased online via https://shop.hmgpaint.com/products/artist-colours-in-oil/.
