BASF awarded $30,000 in college scholarships to three local students, James Brannon Bayles, James Maddux Everett, and Sean Morris, to help them pursue careers in chemical manufacturing. In addition to paying the tuition and fees for these students to attend Coastal Alabama Community College (CACC), BASF is providing an eight-week internship opportunity at the McIntosh site this summer to participate in the Process Technology Program.
Doug Lundy, 2022 scholarship winner and intern, has also been awarded $5,000 and will take part in the eight-week internship program again this summer.
“Our goal is to connect students in our community with opportunities in the chemical industry," said Marcus Pezent, Operations Americas and Site Director of BASF’s McIntosh site. “BASF's scholarship program offers valuable, hands-on learning experiences for these students and helps prepare them as they enter the workforce.”
As part of its workforce development efforts, BASF’s McIntosh site offers a two-year scholarship annually for students participating in the chemical process technology program at CACC. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic accomplishments, testing and an interview.
