Southeast Asia is a nice growth market for paints and coatings, but it isn’t always easy to shop for paints there. Consumers are looking for excellent paints, and are particularly interested in environmentally-friendly products.
Alora Paints has the answer to both of these sought-after qualities. A paint start-up headquartered in Singapore, Alora Paints is focused on simplifying the painting and paint shopping experience, providing end-to-end service from DIY kits, doorstep delivery and painting services. Interestingly, there are no physical stores, so it operates on an e-commerce business model.
Kok said easing the paint buying and painting process was the key to the founding of Alora Paints.
“We looked at what the consumer pain points are when it comes to buying paint,” Kok observed. “Buying paint is not as simple as it is and we endeavor to make paint buying a simple and enjoyable process.”
Alora Paints also has its environmental priorities in order. Adrian Kok, CEO of Alora Paints, notes that its high-quality paints are environmentally responsible and reasonably priced, and have no odor and near-zero VOCs. In addition, the paints can be customized to add on features such as anti mould, anti-viral and anti-bacteria.
Kok noted that there are a lot of areas where Alora Paints differentiates itself from its competitors, including offering a premium paint at affordable prices. Being fully online is unique in the paint and coatings industry, which allows the company to customize paints to add ingredients to make it anti-mould, anti-viral and anti-bacteria.
“Everything we do looks at disrupting the traditional way of buying paint, hence innovation have a big role to play down to the product as well as the consumer experience,” Kok added. “Our product is still very new in the market because we took a year to develop it from scratch.”
Recently, Alora was awarded the U.S. Green Seal certification for its matte and satin finishes, making it the first brand in Singapore to earn this designation. As a result, its products qualify for points toward LEED environmental certification.
Alora has also received the Singapore Green Label verification. A carbon-neutral company, Alora has also joined the United Nations' Climate Neutral Now initiative, producing its paints in a carbon-neutral factory. Among its innovations, Alora offers 2.5-liter cans that promise an efficient, cost-effective option for feature walls and smaller projects.
