At Greenbuild 2015, thousands of individuals and businesses alike came to DC to meet with other professionals in their fields to discuss issues and breakthroughs pertinent to topics ranging from renewable energy, to sustainable building, to green initiatives within their own respective industries. The event featured panel discussions, education sessions, and a large exhibition hall for participating businesses.

Scientists, manufacturers, educators, and many more from the world over, gathered in DC to share what is being done in today’
1. Specializing in high-performance building solutions, particularly silicone-based coatings that are UV impervious, Dow Corning Corp. was highlighting their new 778 Silicone Liquid Flashing, as well as their fast-curing, 1:1 mix ratio - 121 Structural Glazing Sealant, which is a two-part system that goes through a motionless mixer, allowing it to be applied and cured rapidly through utilization of a catalyst.
2. Leesport, PA - Flex Membrane International Corp. specializes in the manufacturing of Elvaloy KEE, PVC, and TPO roofing products for commercial use, as well as low VOC adhesives and sealants. Their thermoplastic single ply roof membrane is white and reflective, aiding the insulation rating and increasing its sustainability. The membrane also has high puncture resistance.
3. Paint and coatings giant Sherwin-Williams was exhibiting their newest paint and coatings additions like Paint Shield, the first EPA-registered paint that kills greater than 99.9% of staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, E. coli, VRE, and enterobacter aerogenes within two hours of exposure; and, Harmony, which features odor eliminating and formaldehyde reducing technology.
4. Greenbuild Unity Home by Hanley Wood & Unity Homes - WaterSense certified, net zero-energy, and a complete lineup of Cradle to Cradle-certified products. The Unity Home will be registered under LEED v4 and will pursue Platinum level certification.
5. Cristal, located in Hunt Valley, MD, manufactures CristalACTiV Ultrafine titanium dioxide photocatalytic additives for coatings or direct surface application. These photocatalytic additives react with ultraviolet light, releasing free radicals into the air that attack harmful pollutants, such as VOCs and NOx – effectively exhibiting a negative pollutant concept. In addition, these coatings are mildew and mold controlling, self-cleaning, and deodorizing.
6. Third generation, family owned and operated ThermaCote, Inc. exhibiting their spray-applied, ultra lightweight, ceramic coating (ThermaCote). It can be applied on the interior or exterior of a structure to prevent thermal bridging and corrosion. It is UL Classified 0 flame spread (class A fire retardant), weighs only 5lbs per gallon, and can be applied to steel, sheetrock, wood, glass, plastic, or concrete.
7. Ark Coatings, LLC – Florida-based, US distributor exhibiting Suber by Kolmer. Suber is a patented exterior coating system manufactured from 96% high-grade raw cork and a proprietary water-based acrylic. This resin has a very low thermal conductivity property, is UV resistant, impervious to inclement weather, and may be applied to many substrates such as concrete panels, concrete masonry, metal roofing/siding, etc.
