Chugoku Marine Paints, Ltd. (CMP) celebrated its centenary in Hiroshima, Japan in May 2017. Since its establishment in 1917, CMP has developed marine paints as a core product, together with other specialized paints for industrial use, containers, pleasure boats and yachts, offshore structures, etc. CMP continues to grow and is well supported by a broad customer base. The company’s products are designed and developed based on focused research activities, and distributed via its global service network at 105 locations in 35 countries.
A new plant was established in the Netherlands – the center of its Europe operation. The new plant handles, with virtually almost unmanned operation, the entire production process of paint manufacturing from charging of raw materials to dispersion and filling of paint. Since such automation enables production within a sealed space, the company expects it to reduce VOC emissions and other benefits include an improved workplace environment, elimination of labor shortages and enhanced productivity.
