DUPONT PATENTS LOW GLOSS,
FREE RADICAL POWDER COATINGS
Patent No. U.S. 6,852,765 B2
E. I. du Pont de Nemours and
Company has been granted a patent
for a powder coating composition
that produces a low gloss coating
upon cure. The composition is comprised
of a base polymer selected
from the group consisting of a
crosslinkable polyester, crosslinkable
polyurethane, crosslinkable acrylated
polyether and a combination thereof;
approximately five percent to 60% of
crosslinkable acrylic polymer having
a gloss transition temperature ranging
from approximately 40° C to 100°
C; and approximately 0.1 to 10% of
one or more free radical initiators, all
percentages in weight percent based
on total weight of the crosslinkable
base and acrylic polymer solids.
