Axalta Coating Systems has appointed Matthias Schönberg as Vice President of Axalta and President of its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. He takes up his position on October 1, 2015.

Schönberg’s role will be to drive the EMEA region’s growth strategy. He will continuously develop Axalta in order to further advance the quality products and outstanding services the company’s customers have come to expect. He joins Axalta from Continental AG where he held numerous leadership positions including, most recently, as CEO of its ContiTech Fluid Technology business and Executive Vice President of Continental AG. During Schönberg’s 17 year tenure with Continental AG, he was well versed in dealing with multi-brand, multi-channel and distributor-oriented business models as well as working closely with automotive OEMs.

Schönberg holds a Masters of Business Administration, Corporate Finance and Tax from the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
