HMG Paints is utilizing its 88 years of experience in the coatings industry to launch a specialist range of decorative coatings, including a new color collection. The new “Essentials” collection follows a string of successes on a number of decorative projects, launching the range in to the market following requests from commercial and domestic appliers.
“We’ve utilized the HMG Research & Development teams’ experience and feedback from decorators to develop products which offer easy application properties, high opacity, excellent color retention and a high-quality finish,” said Paddy Dyson, marketing manager. “With a focus on quality and not cost savings, we’ve been able to utilize the latest technology and quality pigments, to create a range that provides professionals with a premium quality product.”
The water-based coatings have been developed over a number of years and have undergone extensive trials and testing. The range has been specified on large scale projects, such as the renovation of Manchester Central Library, and Heritage projects such as Grade II listed buildings.
The paints were also put to use in high traffic environments such as corridors, offices and automotive workshops at the Prodrive Headquarters in Banbury, home to Aston Martin Racing.
Suitable for all normal interior wall and ceiling surfaces, Vinyl Matt and Silk Emulsion formulations offer great color retention, and a coverage rate of up to 15m2/l. Vinyl Matt Emulsion is a premium quality, quick drying and perfect for when a flat non-reflective finish is required along with easy application. Vinyl Silk Emulsion is suited for where a washable high sheen finish is required.
For new work application, the company has developed Trade Emulsion, a decorative matt emulsion, that has excellent opacity which improves as the paint dries. Excellent results can be achieved with a single coat. Designed for easy application on interior plaster, walls and ceilings.
Acrylic Eggshell offers a mid-sheen finish that provides a durable, washable finish, resistant to condensation and is suitable for most surfaces including walls and interior woodwork.
High quality decorative and protective finishes for interior and exterior woodwork, available in both a Gloss Finish or Satin Finish, offering a quality decorative and protective finish for use over correctly prepared joinery. Ideal for windows, doors, soffits and fascia’s.
The company has also introduced a high-quality bleed resistant primer that prevents rusty screw heads from showing through. The Softwood Primer can be used internally and externally on new or bare softwood surfaces, including plywood, chipboard and flakeboard.
This is accompanied by Acrylic Primer Undercoat, a dual acting primer and undercoat suitable for interior wood, hardboard and plaster which provides an excellent base for topcoat.
The new range is further complimented by HMG’s existing portfolio which includes PVC17, suitable for the respraying of UPVC windows, doors and conservatories, along with a selection of products for spraying of kitchen and bedroom cabinets along with a host of other solutions.
The company has also started to run training courses alongside decorators for the new products and already has a 6-month waiting list for the course.
“We’ve always worked alongside the users of our paint to provide training and we’ve enjoyed having our first decorative cohorts visit our training center in Manchester to get hands on with the Essentials Collection,” Dyson said.
