BASF Coatings AG and DaimlerChrysler AG have extended
their global cooperation in the automotive refinish market
by signing a local supplier agreement in Australia.
Through the agreement between the car manufacturer
and BASF Wattyl Coatings, BASF will consolidate its
position in the automotive refinish market with the
Glasurit brand of automotive refinishes.
In addition to the distribution of Glasurit products, the
accord includes technical and training support for the body
shops authorized by DaimlerChrysler across Australia.
Andreas Riehemann, BASF Wattyl’s managing director,
said this new agreement is “proof of DaimlerChrysler’s confidence
in the quality of Glasurit products and systems.
This is a clear sign to the body shops and dealers authorized
by DaimlerChrysler and their clients that Glasurit
systems are top-quality products and very well suited for
DaimlerChrysler’s vehicles,” he said.
“This new agreement is just a formal recognition of the
good cooperation already existing in practice,” said Lucas
Bogtstra of DaimlerChrysler’s senior field service, client
service Australia/Pacific.
Similar agreements between BASF Coatings and
DaimlerChrysler exist in Western Europe, North America,
the United Arab Emirates and Singapore. The partnership between the two companies in the automotive
OEM coatings market can be traced back to 1949.
