Ferro Corp.’s has launched RealEase and AquaRealEase, porcelain enamel coatings for a variety of appliance and houseware applications. RealEase resists scratching with metal utensils at cooking temperatures and is dishwasher safe. Its color and nonstick properties won’t degrade with the heat of cooking or baking and it is NSF-certified for food contact according to U.S. Food and Drug Administration guidelines. It is durable enough for commercial-grade cookware and bakeware, and is ideal for adding nonstick cleanability to toaster ovens, microwave ovens, griddles and grills. Manufacturers can differentiate their products with RealEase’s broad range of color possibilities, which includes sparkle effects.
AquaRealEase porcelain enamel coatings enable energy-efficient self-cleaning ovens. In a low-temperature oven lined with AquaRealEase, tough soils wipe clean with a damp cloth after soaking or exposure to steam from water heated at 190˚F for one hour. AquaRealEase reduces energy usage and eliminates odor from incineration or oven cleaners. It also eliminates the need for a self-cleaning system that operates at temperatures of 1,000˚F, and can save manufacturers the cost of extra insulation and safety interlocks, according to the company.
