The Sherwin-Williams Company offered a full line of quality, high performing primers that are free of chrome and lead hazards for the use on aircraft. These priming options meet applicator needs for commercial, military or general aviation aircraft and meet three key requirements – faster priming, protection of the aircraft substrate and providing key environmental benefits.
These products provide the painter a choice in environmentally supportive primers, including the latest Chrome Hazard Free Epoxy Primers, Epoxy Primer Surfacer and Urethane Primer.
These new low-VOC (2.9 lb/gal, 348 g/L), two-component, corrosion-inhibitive products contain no hexavalent chromium (CR(VI)) and subsequently meet the Occupational Health and Safety Administration's (OSHA) latest standard for occupation exposure. Sherwin-Williams is one of the first aircraft coatings manufacturers in the world to offer a complete line of primers to be free of chrome and lead hazards available to the aerospace market.
Each of these primers has undergone stringent testing and as part of systems with Jet Glo Express polyester urethane topcoat and SKYscapes polyurethane basecoat-clearcoat systems they have been qualified to SAE's Aerospace Material Specification (AMS 3095).
