Building upon nearly a decade of increasing charitable endeavors, PolyOne Corporation has announced its associates have achieved a new fundraising record of $1,559,000 in its annual United Way campaign.
Money donated as part of PolyOne's campaign is distributed to United Way chapters throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, based on the work locations of the more than 2,900 associates who contributed, and any designations they may have chosen.
PolyOne's campaign consists of creative and localized fundraising activities, including associate contributions, a company contribution, raffles and silent auctions, guest speaker sessions and a special charity golf outing held at Firestone Country Club, where 156 of the company's suppliers participated this year. The golf event, thanks to donations from title sponsor Accenture and the other participating suppliers, generated $695,000, making it the largest charitable golf outing in the state of Ohio, according to Bill Harper, executive director, United Way of Greater Lorain County.
"The generosity of PolyOne associates throughout North America speaks volumes as to their commitment and dedication to giving back to their communities," said Mr. Harper. "We're continually amazed and thankful for the wonderful example they set - through their gifts of time, talent and donations that provide hope to those who need it."
Commenting on the record-breaking campaign, PolyOne president and CEO Robert M. Patterson said, "We're a very special place to work, and that's because of the talented and generous people on our team. I'm proud of what we are able to accomplish to help our neighbors in need, and thank our associates, suppliers and communities for their dedication to this important mission."
