TBF Environmental Technology Inc., a world leader in the development of environmentally-friendly industrial solvents, announced today that BerdeSol – the company’s latest Volatile Organic Content (VOC)-compliant alternative – is now commercially available. This is the third of three major announcements from TBF in recent months, who late last year, also released two other industry-changing VOC-compliant alternatives available: ShiraSol and KradaSol.
BerdeSol can replace slow-evaporating conventional solvents like Heptane, Aromatic 100, Cyclohexane, Methyl Amyl Ketone (MAK), Perchloroethylene, and Butyl Acetate. Not only does BerdeSol perform similarly to these solvents, it also eliminates the emission of VOCs and other toxic pollutants.
In its continuing efforts to improve Southern Californian air quality, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has created a new class of Clean Air Solvents (CAS) for solvents which, among other criteria, contain no more than 25 grams of VOC per liter of material. SCAQMD has certified BerdeSol as a Clean Air Solvent. In addition, independent ASTM 313-91 testing has confirmed BerdeSol is VOC-compliant throughout the United States and Canada.
“The chemical industry has been waiting a long time for industrial solvents that perform effectively yet meet the VOC content limits of SCAQMD, the EPA and other air quality regulators,” said David W. Rowat, CEO of TBF Environmental. “Our new products provide alternatives, which are effective and compliant,” he added.
“TBF is continuing to develop and commercialize VOC-compliant solvents, which are applicable in a wide variety of industrial applications,” said Mark Riemann, VP Sales of Palmer Holland, Inc., TBF`s distributor east of the US Rockies. “With BerdeSol in particular, we see tremendous potential for providing an effective brake cleaner for the market.”
“As the market has moved away from Heptane as a brake cleaner they have typically adopted Acetone as a replacement. BerdeSol provides significantly improved cleaning with a lower flash point and much less risk of combustion,” said Ryan Yokoyama, VP Sales for Dorsett & Jackson, TBF`s distributor on the US west coast.
