A coatings and finishing specialist has achieved three OneSubsea standards.
60-year old firm, Austin Hayes, is a market leader in the refurbishment of ammunition containers. With more than 30 years’ experience in providing specialised surface coatings services across a diverse range of industry sectors, the standards will enable the company to continue to go from strength to strength and take on more work destined for harsh environments.
Having worked with OneSubsea direct and through a number of its own clients, Austin Hayes endured a rigorous process which included submitting a detailed procedure, documenting how compliance would be ensured. Once this was accepted, test plates for each coating system within each specification were processed under the independent witness of theOneSubsea inspection team.
The standards, A-018036-()-(), introduced in 2016 as OneSubsea Leeds new standard, A-018089-()-(), for ENI S.p.A Projects and A-018090-()-(), for Chevron Projects will allow Austin Hayes to carry out further coatings work within the oil and gas industry.
As such, there is a substantial quantity of inspection tests required by these specifications, which are typical of the high standard required by the oil and gas sector. Examples of the tests include the cleanliness of the compressed air, the surface cleanliness of the surface after blasting including the degree of mill scale and residual dust remaining, the surface profile achieved, for possible salt contamination, the wet and dry film thickness, for adhesion obtained and if any pinholes are present.
“Our shop floor team did an excellent job, and all of the tests passed with flying colours. The lead visiting inspector even commented on how smoothly the process was managed by Austin Hayes, our professionalism and our excellent level of preparation for the tasks. The whole team put a lot of work into these qualifications, and all will be very pleased to receive these endorsements of approval, acknowledging the high standard we work to," Austin Hayes Technical Director Tonia Parris said.
