Axalta Coating Systems won the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) Golden award in Six Sigma and 5S categories at the QCFI 27th Annual Convention held September 18 in Vadodara. QCFI, a national body of professionals committed to assisting individuals and organizations implement quality concepts, recognized and awarded Axalta India at the event.
The convention invited more than 190 organizations from across India to present case studies on quality concepts such as Quality Circle, Lean, Six Sigma 5S and Kaizen integrated with Total Productive Maintenance or TPM. Two project teams from Axalta India presented best practices which included reduction in manufacturing cycle time using Six Sigma methodology and 5S approach.
“It is a great achievement to win the highest honors in Six Sigma and 5S categories at the QCFI 27th Annual Convention,” said Vinay Rajadhyaksha, Managing Director Axalta Coating Systems India Pvt. Products manufactured at Axalta’s operations center in Savli, Gujarat state are formulated for refinish, automotive plastic component and industrial customers located in India and the greater Asia-Pacific region. The Axalta team at Savli has embraced Lean Six Sigma and 5S concepts which have combined to enable the plant to ensure consistent product quality, manufacturing processes and service delivery. Additionally, the plant’s robust internal audit system assists in maintaining and improving Axalta’s quality standards.
The emphasis on quality improvement has helped Axalta in India not only provide high quality materials to its customers, meeting their specifications upon on-schedule delivery, but also raise its supplier performance scores. Over the past three years Axalta has received a number of outstanding performance awards, excellence awards, and certificates of appreciation from key OEM customers.
