BASF received the Business Innovation Award at the 2016 Excellence in Southfield Awards & Reception on December 1. The award honors remarkable businesses that help make Southfield a great place to live and work. BASF was recognized for its Plastics and Coatings Excellence (PACE) technical laboratory, which supports the formulation needs for pigments, resins, performance and formulation additives that are used, for example, in transportation, furniture and floor coatings.
The Business Innovation Award is given to companies with especially successful innovative systems, products or services. BASF’s PACE Laboratory opened in October 2015, and is home to approximately 50 employees who conduct research, development and technical services to serve customers and encourage collaboration. The 55,000 square foot facility represents a significant investment by BASF into the Southfield community and allows for continued job growth in the region.
“It is an honor to be recognized as an innovator in business,” said Greg Pflum, Vice President and General Manager of BASF’s Midwest Hub. “This distinction confirms that we are achieving our goal to not only be leaders in our industry but also with our customers and in our community.”
