Grants from the PPG Foundation recently helped support a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) family night at Kell Grade School in Kell, Illinois, and a trip for Kell Grade School 5th- through 8th-graders to the Saint Louis Science Center and James S. McDonnell Planetarium in Missouri.
Employees of the local PPG industrial coatings plant in Mount Vernon, Illinois, requested support for teachers Kacy Franke and Michelle Murphy through a foundation program that encourages PPG employees to support educational initiatives in their communities. PPG Production Supervisor and Operations Engineer Nate Perkins, who sponsored Franke’s grant for the STEM family night, said, “I’m happy to support a night of fun science activities for students and their parents. It’s an excellent way for students to gain an appreciation of learning.”
