The international “Science Award Electrochemistry” supports excellent scientific and engineering achievements and intends to provide fresh impetus to the development of high-efficiency energy storage devices. The science award has been held since 2012 and is intended for scientists working in academic research all over the world. The first place of this price receives €50,000.
The research and application of electrochemical processes in the fields of energy storage, energy converters and storage systems are an essential foundation for the development of future energy storage systems. These technologies are crucial for supplying regenerative energy in a way which preserves the climate and its resources, as well as for driving concepts of the future such as electromobility. Current energy storage systems still provide considerable potential for improvement in terms of performance and costs to make them even more appealing for energy and mobility supply customers.
