MFG Chemical reaffirmed its commitment to SOCMA, a U.S. trade association representing the specialty and fine chemical industry, during an Oct. 3 visit with SOCMA President and CEO Jennifer Abril and Senior Director of Communications and Engagement Jenny Gaines.
The MFG Chemical leadership team met with the SOCMA leaders at the Dalton, Georgia, facility to provide a better understanding of the company’s role within the industry and to learn more about how the two organizations can continue to work together to provide value within the sector.
During the meeting, Abril thanked MFG Chemical President and CEO Keith Arnold for his leadership and continued support as a member of SOCMA’s Board of Governors.
“We are honored to have wonderful leaders like Keith, who are committed to safety and operational excellence, on our SOCMA Board of Governors,” said Abril. “We appreciate Keith for hosting us, so we can hear directly from the MFG team about the issues that matter most to them. This valuable dialogue provides SOCMA with the intelligence we need to create tools and resources that will support their business growth, train workers, enhance EHS&S efforts and address policy and regulations that uniquely impact the specialty chemical industry.”
The MFG team also shared key insights on the importance of SOCMA’s ChemStewards environmental, health, safety and security program to the organization.
“Seeing MFG Chemical’s high-quality plant operation close-up shows how SOCMA’s ChemStewards Program really works,” Abril said. “I also saw how the safety ethic is so integral to all operations and daily life at MFG Chemical.”
The group discussed future initiatives on Capitol Hill and MFG Chemical’s plan to co-sponsor upcoming activities during SOCMA Week in New Orleans, Dec. 4-6. SOCMA Week is the association’s renewed annual conference that provides educational programming across four tracks, an annual dinner and awards presentation and exhibits for industry service providers.
“SOCMA is doing a great job of representing the chemical industry in Washington, D.C., providing educational programs with an aim to continuously improve the quality of chemical plant operations and safety, and serve as a focal point for public appreciation of the essential role chemistry and chemical manufacturers play in our everyday life," Arnold said.
