Four engineering students attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge recently received $2,500 scholarships from BASF.
The annual scholarship program is part of BASF’s education outreach and workforce development efforts in Louisiana.
“BASF provides scholarships to LSU engineering students to support their educational endeavors, preparing them for careers in our industry,” said Jerry Lebold, senior VP and GM of BASF’s Geismar, La. site. “These students are the next generation of talent and we want them to be as prepared as possible to transition into the workforce.”
Each student is recognized for maintaining excellent grade-point averages and being active in campus and community organizations.

Scholarship winners are:
- Olivia Arcemont is a junior chemical engineering major from Baton Rouge. She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her academic career and is an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers;
- David Hutton is a sophomore mechanical engineering major from Metairie, La. and is a graduate of Haynes Academy, where he was a National Merit Finalist. At LSU, he is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars;
- Aubry Hymel is a sophomore chemical engineering major from Covington, La., where she graduated as valedictorian from Saint Scholastica Academy. She is an LSU President’s List scholar and a recipient of the President’s Student Aid award, which allows her to conduct research in a chemical engineering laboratory on campus;
- Thinh Nguyen is a sophomore electrical engineering major from Harvey, La.
