Tthe U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Board of Directors announced it has selected the firm Odgers Berndtson to conduct the search for USGBC and GBCI’s next president and CEO. The president and CEO will provide strategic, financial and operational leadership, working closely with the board and senior leadership team. The CEO will oversee the implementation of the organization’s vision of buildings and communities to regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation.
“Earlier this year, the USGBC board announced a review of USGBC and GBCI’s leadership and go-to-market strategy to support and grow the green building community, increase access to sustainable, healthy and resilient places, and ensure organizational excellence,” said Ari Bernstein, USGBC Board Chair. “With the help of Odgers Berndtson, we are confident that we will find a leader who can not only advance our organization into the future and at scale, but who will also strengthen support for green building as a solution to the most pressing issues today, including the climate crisis, equity, resilience and human health.”
The board selected Odgers Berndston due to its experience with worldwide searches and its commitment to advancing inclusion and diversity. Tonya Muse, a partner in Odgers Berndtson’s Washington, D.C. office, will lead the search for the new CEO. Until a permanent CEO is hired, Peter Templeton will continue to serve as interim president and CEO.
Since its inception, USGBC has led the global effort to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.
