The Color Pigments Manufacturers Association (CPMA) held its Fall Meeting on Sept. 20, 2023 at the 2023 CAD RETEC, the largest technical conference in North America devoted to the coloring of plastic, which took place Sept. 18-20 in Columbus, OH.
The CPMA Fall meeting convened the board, members and industry representatives for a networking breakfast, followed by expert presentations and a roundtable discussion on key topics impacting the color pigments sector.
“Penn Color is excited to join the CPMA and stand shoulder to shoulder with our key global pigment suppliers. Penn Color values the work of the association and is excited to support its efforts to foster a bright future for the pigment market,” said David Putman, director of supplier management.
CPMA executive director David Wawer discussed regulatory challenges under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), including EPA’s elimination of its long-standing TSCA Inventory correction policy and TSCA Chemicals Risk Management.
As part of the CAD RETEC conference, Wawer participated in a regulatory panel discussion and shared insights on TSCA Chemicals Risk Management impacts for plastic masterbatch companies and key considerations for future business planning. For example, EPA’s risk management regulatory considerations could include bans, restrictions, labeling notifications or other regulatory requirements for plastics processors and converters.
During the meeting, CPMA also announced that it will be holding a fall regulatory webinar series focused on emerging PFAS regulations in North America and the EU, and potential impacts for the color pigments sector.
