PPG announced that it is celebrating the start of WorldSkills Lyon 2024, the world’s largest vocational skills competition, which takes place this week at the Eurexpo Lyon in France. As a Gold Sponsor of the event, PPG is providing financial support, expertise, and SEIGNEURIE paints by PPG for the Painting and Decorating skill category, including Seigneurie Evolutex Bas Carbone paint, which includes bio-based raw materials.
WorldSkills Lyon 2024 will bring together more than 1,500 young professionals from more than 60 countries and regions, who will compete in 64 different skills across a wide range of industries. The event aims to raise the profile and recognition of skilled people and show how important vocational skills are in achieving economic growth and personal success.
The Painting and Decorating skill competition challenges participants to demonstrate surface preparation, wallpapering, decorative finishes and color-matching techniques. The competition takes place next to the interactive Try-a-Skill area, where visitors can try painting a mural designed by French artist Camille Fosse from Shandor Studio. The mural highlights cities representing four global regions, including a mural inspired by Shanghai, which will host the WorldSkills 2026 competition.
Visitors are invited to visit PPG’s stand (Hall 2) where the company will showcase its focus on skills improvement, innovation, sustainability, community engagement and diversity under the theme “Let’s Paint Your Future.” Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with PPG professionals, take a photo in the photobooth and test their knowledge in a quiz about paint and colors.
“We are proud to partner with WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and emphasize PPG’s dedication to supporting skilled professions,” said Pascal Tisseyre, PPG vice president, government affairs, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “I encourage everyone to visit the Painting and Decorating competition, where you can see the exceptional talent of young professionals and explore our stand to discover how PPG is leading the future of innovation, sustainability and skills development. Don’t miss the chance to paint with Seigneurie products in our Try-a-Skill area and engage with our team. Let’s protect and beautify the world together!”
PPG’s sponsorship of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is part of its global commitment to support education and workforce development initiatives that prepare students for careers in the skilled trades. In 2023, PPG and the PPG Foundation announced a $2 million investment to support programs that provide training, curriculum development and career readiness resources for students and educators.
