Q: Could you introduce the key products presented by Wanhua in ECS 2023?
A: Wanhua Chemical will present on the following products during ECS:
1) Automotive industry:
A: From beginning of developing coating business, Wanhua puts the environmental protection and high performance of products in the first place, from waterborne resin to the development of high solid system, all reflect the balance of performance and environmental protection.
Specifically, Wanhua has a complete water-based product portfolio,such as PUD, PA, UV,etc., covering all categories of residential and industrial coatings, which can greatly reduce VOCs in coating formulations without losing physical performances. Besides, Wanhua has developed more than 10 emulsion products such as high-end interior wall coatings, wood coatings, and synthetic leather coatings, all of which include non-food-sourced bio-based materials. The highest bio-based content can reach 80%, which effectively reduce carbon footprint of coating production process.
Q: Looking back at the decade since Wanhua entered the coating industry, would you summarize what Wanhua has brought in?
From a MDI manufacturer, Wanhua has grown into a world-renowned supplier of various chemical materials, becoming the only manufacturer in the world has mastered the whole industrial chain of MDA-H12MDA-H12MDI and has industrial production capacity of HDI, IPDI and H12MDI. In addition to stable global supply, these products are contributing to the global sustainability goals from different directions. HDI based polyurethane coatings are used in renewable energy industry, such as wind turbine blades and photovoltaic panel protections. IPDI and H12MDI are great building blocks for polyurethane dispersion for waterborne coating resins. IPDI trimer are good candidate to reduce curing time in automotive refinish coatings, which will save at least 20% energy cost for end customers. Wanhua established multiple R&D platforms to develop solutions for reducing CO2 emission and biodegradable plastics. In the past ten years, Wanhua has been recognized as "Annual Excellent Supplier" by international customers, including PPG, Allnex, Axalta, Henkel and 3 trees group for many times. Together with our partners and customers, we will keep innovating and bringing more solutions to address sustainability and carbon footprint reduction needs in future.

- Wannate IPDI trimer products have the potential to improve quick-drying performance of automotive refinish paint. This, in turn, could result in a reduction in energy consumption and an increase in production efficiency.
- The low-viscosity trimer series products of HDI have a low VOC content and are suitable for application in automotive original coatings.
- Lacper® high-end outdoor wood paint products have a low VOC content and meet the EU KOMO test standards. These products also provide a longer-lasting protective effect on outdoor wood.
- Archsol® high-end interior wall paint bio-based series products, non-food source bio-based materials, the highest bio-based content can reach 50% (the highest proportion in the field of architectural coatings)
- Blocked IPDI trimer, as an ideal crosslinker for metal packaging coating, can increase safe use of metal packaging.
- Wantipro® barrier technology products facilitate rapid development of paper-based packaging solutions as an alternative to plastic and single-material packaging.
- Antkote® products with better weather resistance and ultra-low VOC technology, targeting for wind power and photovoltaic coatings.
