The importance of the Vietnamese coatings industry is clearly demonstrated by the upward trend of investment in the country. Vietnam’s thriving coatings industry has attracted both multinational paint companies, as well as regional players and it continues to be one of the fastest growing coatings industries in South East Asia.
New investment continues to take place throughout Vietnam: In April 2018, Jotun Paints signed a contract confirming it will invest US$70 billion in building its second plant in Vietnam and in 2015, AkzoNobel invested significantly in its performance coatings business, doubling the capacity at its powder coatings facility in Dong Nai.
In 2018, Beckers, a global coatings company, opened its second site in Vietnam, while DKSH opened a new, state-of-the-art distribution center for its Performance Materials unit.
Vietnam’s paint and coatings industry was estimated to be worth around US$620 million at the close of 2017, a figure expected to increase due to the country’s booming architectural sector.
